Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian strike that happened in Irvington Friday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecuutor's Office, the incident occurred at approximately 2:04 p.m. at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Orange Avenue in Irvington.
The victim was attempting to cross when he was struck by a 2012 Toyota pick-up truck that was making a left turn authorities said.
The driver remained at the scene after the incident.
The victim, later identified as 55-year-old Joseph Hamlin, of Irvington, was rushed to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:52 p.m.
The autopsy performed Saturday, revealed Hamlin died as a result of determined head and neck trauma and the cause of death was ruled accidental.
No charges have been filed against the driver and the investigation is continuing.
