Bridgewater Police are investigating a drowning incident that occurred at a reservoir in the township today.
According to a statement released by police, at 3:05 pm, The Bridgewater Police Department was dispatched to the Chimney Rock Reservoir for a possible drowning.
Official say officiate arrived at the scene and learned from witnesses that the victim, Mr. Michael Woskey, 37, from Somerville, jumped off one of the cliffs and began to swim across the reservoir.
Police say while he was swimming, he began to struggle. Witnesses reportedly lost sight of him and called 911 for help.
The Somerset County Dive team arrived and began to search the water for Woskey.
Officials say due to darkness, the search was called off at approximately 9:15 pm then resumed at 8:00 a.m. today.
Officials say with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit and their sonar equipment, Woskey was located at approximately 1:40 pm.
The incident remains under investigation and no foul play has been suspected.
