The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards is scheduled to be held in Newark and will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT on August 26.
Officials say the announcement was made during Twitter’s 2019 NewFronts presentation at New York music venue Terminal 5 .
Newark and the state has an incredible music history and is home to some of the world’s greatest artists including ‘Chairman of the Board’ Frank Sinatra, ‘The Boss’ Bruce Springsteen, Queen Latifah, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, the Jonas Brothers, the Fugees and Halsey — the list is extensive and endless,” said VMA officials who is also global head of music and talent at Viacom and co-brand head for MTV International.
The 12-year-old Prudential Center is in the heart of Newark's downtown and near the city's accessible rail and bus terminals.
