Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Michael E. Lloyd of the Monroe Township Police Department announce that on Wednesday a 2-year old wandered from a daycare facility in Monroe Township.
On August 10, 2016 at approximately 10 a.m., a 2-year-old developmentally disabled female child wandered away from a state-licensed daycare facility located on Prospect Plains Road in Monroe Township.
A good samaritan saw the child walking by herself on the shoulder of Applegarth Road. The samaritan safely removed the child from the roadway and contacted the Monroe Police Department. It was determined that the child was under the supervision of the daycare when this occurred.
The daycare facility did not notify police that the child was missing.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s office is conducting the investigation in conjunction with the Monroe Police Department and the Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit of the New Jersey Department of Children & Families.
No charges have been filed.
The investigation is active and continuing.
