A 2-year-old child was transported to the hospital after he was thrown from a vehicle involved in a crash Thursday evening.
According to officials, police responded to Routes 1&9 for a report of a crash at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, officers determined a Chrysler mini van crossed several lanes on Routes 1&9, ultimately colliding with a Mazda Cx5.
After losing control, the mini van struck a utility pole and flipped over onto its roof. A 2-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and the car seat suffering a broken leg and other minor injuries. The mother did not suffer serious injuries, police added.
The child and mother were both transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
The driver of the minivan was ticketed for unsafe lane changing and careless driving.
