A 2-alarm fire ripped through a multi-family house Monday afternoon in Newark.
Firefighters were called to 139 South 8th Street at around 4:10 p.m. after residents in the area reported heavy fire coming from the house with occupants possibly trapped.
Crews arrived to the scene where they observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the three-story house.
Firefighters battled the blazed from the exterior as smoke billowed throughout the building.
A thorough search of the building yielded no injured occupants according to authorities.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control shortly before 6 p.m.
There were about a dozen residents displaced by the fire.
