19-Year-Old Teen Injured During Franklin Park Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that left a 19-year-old teen injured Monday night.

According to police, Franklin officers responded to a 911 call for shots fired in the area Naaman Williams Park at approximately 7:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found numerous spent shell casings but no victim, police said. 

While at the scene, police were told a 19-year-old male, victim of a shooting was being treated at the hospital.

According to reports, a group of approximately ten males were at Naaman Williams Park walking near the children's playground when they noticed several males walking towards them, police said.

The unknown males then allegedly displayed handguns and began shooting at the group.

The victim as attempted to flee was struck on his back left thigh, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano is handling the ongoing investigation.
