19-Year-Old Man Killed in NJ Shooting

An investigation is underway following a fatal shooting in Monroe Township that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man, according to a statement released by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.  AdOn Monday, December 30, at approximately 8:08 p.m., Monroe Township Police responded to reports of gunfire in the Colonial Estates neighborhood.

Upon arrival at the intersection of Texas Avenue and Oklahoma Avenue, officers determined that a dispute had escalated, resulting in shots being fired.  

While canvassing the area, officers discovered an unconscious male in the backyard of a residence on Texas Avenue.

The individual, later identified as Qaasir K. Greenidge of Sicklerville, Winslow Township, was immediately transported to Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township.

Despite medical efforts, Greenidge was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.  

The Gloucester County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Tuesday, December 31, confirming that Greenidge died from a single gunshot wound.

His death was ruled a homicide.  

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the Monroe Township Police Department, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.AdAuthorities urge anyone with information to come forward and contact Detective Eric Bailey at 856-384-5685.
