18-Year-Old Man Nabbed for Armed Robbery in Newark’s Ironbound Section; Vehicle Owner Sought

Newark Police officials are reporting the arrest of Mr. Americo Flores, 18, of Newark, following a robbery involving a black SUV on Monday, May 6, 2019.

According to police, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a 60-year old man was robbed in the area of Delancy Street, near Jefferson Street, by two males who took his wallet and fled into a dark SUV driven by a female.

Police say the suspect’s vehicle was also involved in two robberies on April 19 and another on April 20.

According to police the vehicle’s owner, Ms. Yvonne D. Sparks, 19, is being sought for questioning.

Police arrested Flores yesterday in the area of Jefferson and Malvern streets.

He faces charges of robbery and conspiracy. These charges are merely accusations according to police.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
