16-Year-Old Newark Teen Arrested, Found with Loaded Guns, Drugs and Money

Police investigating a report of people selling drugs Friday morning in Newark led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy.

According to authorities, police shortly after 11 a.m. responded to the 100 block of Kent Street after someone called to report several men selling drugs.

Upon arrival, officers found the 16-year-old teen in front of the residential building, reportedly trying to hide a plastic bag he had in his hands.

Police say the bag contained 14 envelopes of heroin and 16 vials of cocaine. In addition, police seized a backpack that had a loaded .9-millimeter Keltec handgun, a loaded 45-caliber Ruger handgun, a loaded Glock .9-millimeter handgun, 503 bags of heroin and $395 of drug profits.

According to officials, the teen was arrested and charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon during the commission of a drug crime and other drug possession and drug dealing offenses. He was taken to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center in Newark.
