A 15-year-old boy from East Orange was injured in a shooting near the Newark/East Orange border on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, police responded around 12:40 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of 4th Avenue West.
Upon arrival, officers found property damage from gunfire but no immediate victims at the scene.
Shortly afterward, authorities received information that the teenager had arrived at University Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
He is currently in stable condition, and the incident remains under investigation.
Authorities are actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
