A boy was airlifted to the hospital Friday afternoon after he was ejected from a vehicle on Route 287 in Mahwah.
Police responded to mile marker 66.7 shortly before 2:49 p.m. for a report of a crash with serious injuries.
Upon arrival, officers say a vehicle rear-ended another when it slowed down as a result of the increased holiday traffic.
Officials say the boy was ejected out the back window just before 3 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
