$115,000 Worth of Narcotics Seized in Paterson Investigation

Officer in Charge Isa Abbassi announced that one man was arrested for drug possession and $115,000 worth of narcotics have been seized in connection with an alleged drug distribution scheme out of a residence. 

According to officials, on June 7, detectives were conducting surveillance at a residence on Chadwick Street when they noticed the main target of the investigation, Niair Lane.

Officials said Lane was found to be in possession of 100 Oxycodone pills and confirmed they came from a residence on Chadwick Street.

A search there yielded more than 5,500 Oxycodone pills, one 30-gram bag of cocaine, five bags of marijuana, six bags of marijuana concentrate, both weighing almost 24 ounces and one ecstasy pill.

The street value is estimated to be over $115,000.

“This is an example of great police work that has been done by the Paterson Police Department and will continue to be done by our officers,” said Officer in Charge Abbassi.

“I want to thank these detectives and their supervisors for conducting a successful operation and arresting this individual without incident.”

Niair Lane of Paterson was placed under arrest and charged with possession of Oxycodone with intent to distribute, intent within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet of a park, possession of 30 grams of powder cocaine with intent to distribute, intent within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet of a park, possession of an ecstasy pill with intent to distribute, intent within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet of a park, possession of 23.6 ounces of marijuana with intent to distribute, intent within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet of a park, and possession of drug paraphernalia all of which are third-degree charges. 

Third-degree crimes can carry a prison sentence of three to five years and a $15,000 fine.
