An 11-year-old girl was rushed to hospital in serious condition after she was struck by a car Tuesday, authorities said.
According to Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenburg, the victim - a middle school student - was crossing on Spring Valley Road between Paramus High School and East Brook Middle School, when she was struck by a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Janis Vahanian, 60, of Paramus, shortly before 3 p.m., authorities said.
The girl was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she remains in serious but stable condition.
According to police, a school crossing guard was at the intersection at the time of the incident but it appears the girl started to cross prior being instructed to.
