Mayor Derek Armstead provides the ceremonial tip-off to the 2015 Linden Police Athletic League Opening Night for Basketball at the P.A.L. Building, 400 Maple Avenue, Linden. At far left is P.A.L. Director, Officer Daniel Kuczynski.   The Linden Police Athletic League tipped off its 62nd year of providing a safe and fun atmosphere for the youth of Linden with its 2015 opening night of basketball on Friday, January 23rd.   On hand for the tip-off were coaches, players, parents, and a contingent of Linden police officers and command staff, including Police Chief James M. Schulhafer. Also in attendance were P.A.L. Board members, Linden Board of Education members, and volunteers. The Police Department also donated water bottles for the players.   “This was probably one of the biggest turnouts for an opening night during my tenure as director”, said Kuczynski. “Considering what is happening in the world today, it is important now, more than ever, to maintain an open relationship between the police department and the youth of Linden. I believe we have built that bridge over the last few years, but like any relationship, it requires a constant reinforcement of mutual trust, respect, and a genuine sense of community”.
