SUNDAY SHOOTING IN IRVINGTON LEAVES ONE DEAD SEVERAL INJURED

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Irvington Police Director Joseph Santiago announced today that the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a homicide.   Yesterday at approximately 4:20 p.m. Djames Ulyste, 20, of Irvington and three other 20-year-old Irvington men were in a car in the vicinity of Union Avenue and Mount Vernon Street when someone shot at them. Ulyste sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at approximately 5:05 p.m.   One of the passengers was shot but is in stabled condition.
