UPDATE: Shooting at Newark Catering Hall Results in Injuries, Triggers Power Outage

Newark Police were called to the scene of a violent incident outside the Family Manor catering hall, where a shooting and a subsequent vehicle crash left several people injured and caused a power outage in the surrounding neighborhood.Fitness

The incident happened around 3:04 a.m. in the 700 block of Sanford Avenue, prompting law enforcement and emergency services.

Officers arriving on the scene discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds.

He was swiftly taken to University Hospital, where he is currently being treated and is reported to be in stable condition.

The situation escalated with the discovery of a motor vehicle accident on site. A car, found on its side and entangled in the aftermath of the shooting, had collided with a light pole and transformer, compounding the emergency response efforts.

Newark Firefighters worked to extricate two victims from the wrecked vehicle, with one of them also being transported to University Hospital in stable condition.

The impact of the crash not only inflicted physical harm but also led to a significant power outage.

The downed transformer and light pole caused an interruption in the electricity supply from Silver Street to South Orange Avenue along Abinger Place, affecting numerous residents and businesses. PSEG has been alerted and is expected to address the power disruption.

The Newark Police Department is diligently investigating the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the car crash.

The exact motives, identities of those involved, and the sequence of events that led to this night of violence remain subjects of an ongoing investigation.
