UPDATE: Newark West Ward Shooting Leaves One Injured

A shooting incident in Newark's West Ward Wednesday afternoon has left one person injured and prompted an intensive investigation by local authorities.AdThe incident occurred around 3:17 p.m. near 608 South 20th Street, drawing police to the scene to assess the situation.

Upon arrival, officers cordoned off the area after discovering several shell casings and a trail of blood, signaling a violent encounter.

Although initial searches did not locate any victims on site, it was later learned that an individual had been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Newark detectives visited the hospital to gather further details, while the Newark Shooting Response Team joined the on-site units to assist with the investigation.AdNo arrests have been reported and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they continue to piece together the events that led to this act of violence in the West Ward.
