Two-Year-Old Found Wandering in Linden

Linden

A 2-year-old boy was found wandering alone in below freezing temperatures on a Linden Street yesterday evening, according to police.

A woman called police at approximately 10 p.m. after she found the 2-year-old boy - wearing only a jacket, diaper, and socks - standing alone in a driveway on the 500 block of Roselle Street, Captain James Sarnicki said. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area, when about 20 minutes later, they located a 51-year-old man on the 600 block of E. Blancke St., about a block away, who told them that the boy was his grandson, Sarnicki added. The child was taken to police headquarters and evaluated by EMT staff from the Linden Fire Department Ambulance. The grandfather told police that he last saw his grandson at approximately 9:30 p.m. and had no idea how he got out of the house. No charges were filed at this time.

A joint investigation is underway by the police department’s Juvenile Bureau and the state DCPP (Department of Child Protection and Permanency).
