Suspect Wanted for Firing Shots in Newark’s South Ward

Newark Police are calling on the community for help in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting incident that unfolded early in the morning on Wednesday, March 20. GenceptzPolice said the incident, which has fortunately not resulted in any injuries, has nonetheless raised concerns within the local community.

At around 7 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Runyon Street following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, they discovered that a male suspect had discharged a firearm towards Hawthorne Avenue from West Runyon Street, leaving behind a 9mm shell casing as evidence of the altercation.

In an effort to apprehend the individual responsible, Newark Police officials have turned to surveillance footage captured near the scene.

This footage has provided them with visuals of the suspect, which they are now sharing with the public in hopes that someone will be able to identify him.
