Shots Fired in Newark Central Ward Under Investigation

In Newark's Central Ward, a shooting incident triggered a response from police but fortunately resulted in no injuries.

Officers were alerted to the situation by a ShotSpotter activation, indicating gunfire in the area of 168 Irvine Turner Boulevard just before 8:40 p.m. on Monday evening.

Upon their arrival, police units discovered several shell casings at the scene. A thorough search by the officers confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident.

To aid in the investigation, the Newark Shooting Response Team, along with a Crime Scene Unit, were called to the location.

As of now, the individual responsible for the shooting has fled the scene and remains at large. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.

Newark Police are continuing their efforts to uncover more details and are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
