Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers announced today that the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double shooting.
At approximately 9:30 pm yesterday two men were shot in the area of Orange Avenue and Orange Place in Irvington. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered an unresponsive male. The victim, who has been identified as Jamie Walker, 18, of Irvington was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:01 p.m.
A second victim was located a short distance away. He is a 21-year-old male from Newark. He was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
