Several Overnight Shootings in Newark Leaves at Least Three Injured, One in "Poor" Condition

Police in Newark are investigating several overnight shootings that occurred in the city leaving three people injured, one reportedly in "poor" condition. 

Gunfire rang out around 1 a.m near a building in the 50's block of Willoughby Street in the city's South Ward sending police to the scene to investigate. A victim reportedly shot at this location, walked into the Emergency room at Beth Israel Hospital a short time later suffering serious injuries from a gunshot wound. A thorough search of the building for the suspects responsible and other possible victims came up empty-handed.  Police recovered several shell casings and other evidence inside the building. 

A male victim suffering a gunshot wound reportedly walked into University Hospital around 2 a.m. It was not immediately clear where the shooting occurred. The condition of the victim is not immediately known. 

Residents in the city's West Ward were awaken to the sound of gunfire that erupted in the 30's block of Telford Street  around 2:15 a.m. Police responded to the scene and found a male victim injured by gunfire. The victim was reported to be in "poor" condition. Investigators from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene collecting evidence and investigating.
