Cranford Officials said an 86-year-old driver struck a crossing guard with a car near Walnut Avenue School.
Around 8 am Thursday, a 2003 Cadillac collided with the crossing guard standing in the crosswalk, according to reports. When the crash occurred, the crossing guard had halted traffic for a student.
Police say that the crossing guard wore a traffic vest and held a "stop" paddle.
According to officials, police identified the driver as a Union County resident. The driver's name has not been released, but charges were pending.
