Police Seeks Help to Identify Dollar General Store Theft Suspect in Newark

Authorities in Newark announced police seeks the public's help in identifying a male in connection with a business burglary that occurred on Sunday, September 3.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reported at approximately 3:04 a.m., a male suspect used a rock to break open the automatic doors of the Dollar General Store, located at 420 Springfield Avenue.

Authorities say the suspect entered the store and stole various items, including body washes, soaps, baby diapers, wipes, and over-the-counter medications, placing the items into a black garbage bag.

The estimated value of the stolen merchandise is between $300.00 to $400.00, officials said. 

According to officials, the detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as a White man in his late forties to early fifties, 5'8" tall, approximately 160 pounds, and having a thick salt and pepper mustache and beard.

He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a black cap underneath, gray pants, black sneakers, and gardening gloves, officials stated.
