Early morning reports of shots fired near the smaller portion of Lincoln Park near Washington Street sent heavy police presence to the scene where authorities roped off the park searching for evidence connected to a shooting that left a male victim shot and seriously injured.
A New Jersey Transit #27 bus was held at Elizabeth Ave. and West Peddie Street where police found evidence connected to the shooting.
Residents living near Lincoln Park said that gunfire rang out at around 10:45 a.m. where they believe the victim jumped on the bus shortly after.
An investigation is underway by Newark Police.
