Monday night in Newark's South Ward became the focus of a police investigation following reports of a shooting.FitnessOfficers were dispatched to the vicinity of 29 Stratford Place around 8:30 p.m. after receiving alerts about gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, police found clear evidence that shots had been fired, yet, initially, no victims were discovered at the scene.

In response to the incident, Newark police officials issued an alert to hospitals across the region, advising them to be prepared for any potential walk-in gunshot victims.

This measure aimed to ensure that any individuals who may have been injured during the shooting receive prompt medical attention.

The Newark Major Crime Shooting Team was called to assist with the investigation. No arrests have been made, and the search for suspects and potential victims is ongoing.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to aid in the investigation and help bring those responsible to justice.
