Police Arrest Man for Breaking Into Newark West Ward Schools

Police officials in Newark reported the arrest of Mr. Curtis Spears, 59, of Newark, who stole copper pipes from South 17 Street Elementary School on July 26.   

According to Newark authorities, police responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. when

Police said Spears was captured on surveillance video leaving the school building with copper pipes cut from a water tank in the boiler room. 

An arrest warrant had been issued for Spears' arrests for two other burglaries at West Side High School on June 17 and June 22.  

These charges are merely allegations.

Spears is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
