Person Found Dead After Apparent Jump from Bergen County Cliff

A tragic overnight incident at Rockefeller Lookout has left one person dead after they allegedly jumped from the cliffs early Thursday morning.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m., when emergency responders were called to the scenic overlook along the Palisades. 

Given the challenging terrain, officials requested assistance from the New Jersey State Police aviation unit and deployed drones to aid in the search.

After an extensive search effort, the unidentified individual was located and recovered just before 3 a.m. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of the incident.
