Pedestrian Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle in Newark's West Ward

Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that injured a person in Newark's West Ward Saturday night. 

At approximately 8:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of South 16th Street and South Orange Avenue to investigate reports of an injured person. 

Upon arrival, police found the victim suffering non-fatal injuries after a vehicle struck him and left the scene. 

Witnesses believe the car that hit the pedestrian was a Crown Victoria with emergency lights. 

Police have attempted to pull over this vehicle several times Sunday but the driver sped away at high fates of speed. 

No other injuries were reported.
