Authorities in Freehold Township are looking into the motive for a shooting that sent a male victim to the hospital late Saturday night.
Police said the shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. near 348 Jackson Mills Road.
Units responded to reports of shots fired and when officers arrived at the scene, they found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his leg.
Police say the victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment and is expected to survive.
Officers requested a drone to check for a suspect in the wooded area surrounding the shooting scene.
The motive for the attack is under investigation and no suspect has been arrested at this time.
