NYPD Officer Arrested in Connection with Paterson Domestic Violence Incident

Hariton Marachilian, an employee of the New York Police Department (NYPD), was taken into custody on December 1 following an investigation into a domestic violence case that occurred in Paterson on December 10, 2022.AdAccording to The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, Marachilian now faces serious charges, including First-Degree Kidnapping, two counts of Second-Degree Aggravated Assault, Third-Degree Criminal Restraint, and Third-Degree Criminal Coercion.

The Passaic County Prosecutor, Camelia M. Valdes, reported that Mr. Hariton Marachilian was identified as the perpetrator who allegedly kidnapped and assaulted a female victim, resulting in severe injuries.

To protect the victim's privacy, her identity remains undisclosed in accordance with the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act.

Marachilian's case will proceed to the Central Judicial Processing Court (CJP) on December 7, 2023. Additionally, the State has filed a motion for pretrial detention, which will be heard on December 12, 2023, before a Superior Court Judge.

It's essential to remember that a criminal complaint is an accusation, and individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
