NY Man Accused of Striking Pedestrian in Red Bank Charged with Careless Driving

A 44-year-old New York man was charged with careless driving after he reportedly struck a woman as she crossed Broad Street.

According to police, officers responded to the intersection of Broad with Reckless Place and Harding Road at approximately 4:40 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian strike.

Upon arrival, police found Alicia Straub, 42, suffering a non-traumatic head injury. EMS transported Straub to Riverview Medical Center, where she was treated for a head laceration.

The driver, identified as Peter Gilligan, 44, of New York City, was issued a summons charging him with careless driving for making a left from Harding onto Broad.
