NWS: Stormy Overnight Makes way for Sun, Clouds for Sunday in North Jersey

Newark and North Jersey residents hunkered down through a  stormy overnight period as lightning and thunder rumbled through the region.

On Sunday morning, skies will clear and we can look forward to a mix of sun and clouds for the rest of the day.

According to National Weather Service Meteorologists, showers are likely to occur mainly before 9 am, accompanied by patchy fog.

Forecasters said the weather will remain cloudy, but as the day progresses, it will gradually become mostly sunny with a high near 68 degrees. West wind will blow at a moderate speed of 6 to 8 miles per hour.

NWS meteorologist said the chance of precipitation is 60%, with new precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.

The barometer reading is at 29.79 inches (1008.7 millibars), indicating stable air pressure.

The dew point is at 57 degrees Fahrenheit, which means the air may feel slightly humid.

Despite the possibility of some morning showers, forecasters said residents can look forward to a pleasant day ahead. The sun will peek through the clouds, providing warmth, and a gentle breeze will blow from the west.

Newark and North Jersey residents can expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day.
