The National Weather Service said Friday will usher in the weekend with showers and the potential for thunderstorms, particularly after 11 a.m.

While temperatures are expected to reach around 66 degrees, a south wind ranging from 7 to 13 mph will accompany the precipitation.

The chance of rain is quite high, at 80%, with new rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch. Humidity levels will hover around 78%.

Despite the wet start, there's good news for those with weekend plans.

NWS meteorologists say the rain is not expected to wash out the entire weekend. While Friday may be soggy, Saturday brings a more promising outlook.

Showers are likely, mainly before 8 a.m., with mostly cloudy conditions and a high near 64.

So, while you might want to keep your umbrella handy, the weekend offers a chance to embrace the cooler fall weather and make the most of your plans with a mix of showers and sunshine.
