NJ Woman Charged, Arrested for Murder

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Sunday, March 31, at approximately 5:39 p.m., the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call in reference to a deceased male at 13 Lewis Drive, Mays Landing.AdOfficers arrived and located Gary Johnson, 81, from Mays Landing, deceased inside the residence, officials stated.

According to officials, Johnson had multiple wounds to his head and body.

Officials said Johnson was pronounced deceased by a pronouncement nurse while at the residence and transported to the morgue by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy, authorities say. 

Eileen Bright, 75, also from Mays Landing, officials say, was charged in connection to Johnson’s death.AdOfficials said she was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.

Bright was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending her first court appearance, officials stated.
