NJ Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Cliffside Park for Slashing Woman's Throat

Authorities in Bergen County announced the arrest of Ernesto Lara-Rojo, 49, of West New York, for attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapon charges as a result of an incident in Cliffside Park.AdBergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella stated that the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Cliffside Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Marc Marano.

Officials said on Monday, April 1, at approximately 4:58 p.m., the Cliffside Park Police Department responded to a report of a domestic violence incident involving serious bodily injury.

According to officials, an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Cliffside Park Police Department revealed that a female victim's throat was cut with a razor blade by Ernesto Lara-Rojo.AdThe victim was transported to HMH Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen with life-threatening injuries, officials say. 

Authorities say as a result of the investigation, Ernesto Lara-Rojo was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Lara-Rojo is scheduled for a first appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Tuesday, April 2, officials stated.
