Newark police have reported no severe injuries following a shots fired incident in the city's South Ward on Saturday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Hawthorne Avenue and Birks Place.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers canvassed the area and discovered evidence confirming that a shooting had taken place.
They promptly initiated the collection of evidence with the assistance of a crime scene unit.
The suspect involved in the incident managed to flee the scene and remains at large, and there are no reported injuries related to the shooting.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible.
