Newark Man Sentenced to Over 100 Years

After a month-long crime spree that came to an end with a fatal shooting in Newark, James Olbert today was sentenced to more than 100 years. 

Today, Superior Court Judge Martin Cronin sentenced James Olbert to over 100 years of incarceration for the fatal shootings of Miguel Torres and Wilfredo Campos.

On Dec. 28, 2011, during a robbery Wilfred Campos was fatally shot on Orange Avenue in Newark. 

In January 2012 Miguel Torres, 37, was also killed after a robbery at his store, JNC Mini Market.

Today, Superior Court Judge Martin Cronin sentenced James Olbert to 42 years in state prison for his role in Campos' murder, and 62 years for the murder of Torres.

Olbert is required to serve 85 percent of each term before he is eligible for parole.
