Man Fatally Shot in Camden City, Police Seek Information

Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez have reported a tragic incident in Camden City where a young man was fatally shot on the evening of January 13, 2024.Ad The Camden County Police Department was alerted to the incident at 6:31 p.m. following a ShotSpotter detection of gunfire in the 800 block of Grant Street.

Responding officers found a male victim with gunshot wounds, who was quickly transported to Cooper University Hospital for urgent care.

Unfortunately, the victim, identified as 20-year-old Joel Maldonado of Camden City, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:16 p.m.

As of now, the investigation into this shooting is active and ongoing.

Detectives are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this fatal incident and to identify those responsible.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Police Department are appealing to the public for assistance.

They urge anyone with information regarding this case to come forward.
