Man Charged with Multiple Offenses Including Attempted Murder in Toms River

Authorities in Ocean County announced that on June 6, Patrick Robertelli, 57, of Toms River, was charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Harassment, and Stalking, all in connection with an incident that occurred in the Ortley Beach Section of Toms River Township on June 5.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said that on June 5, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Officers from the Toms River Township Police Department responded to a residence on Harding Avenue in the Ortley Beach section of Toms River for a report of a disturbance.

Responding Officers found Robertelli and a 52-year-old male involved in a physical altercation outside the residence, OCPO officials say. 

According to Ocean County officials, as Officers separated the two individuals, they discovered that the 52-year-old male had been stabbed multiple times.

He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he is listed in critical but stable condition, Ocean County officials said. 

OCPO authorities stated that an investigation conducted by the Toms River Township Police Department revealed that Robertelli traveled to the victim’s residence to confront him and a female who was also at the residence.

When Robertelli arrived at the residence, an altercation ensued, which resulted in Robertelli stabbing the victim multiple times, according to Ocean County officials. 

Further investigation revealed that Robertelli had sent multiple threatening text messages to the female, OCPO authorities stated. Robertelli was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Ocean County officials said that he was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.
