Authorities are investigating an early morning shooting that left a man injured near the Jersey City waterfront on Sunday.

According to preliminary information, police were alerted around 1:20 a.m. after Jersey City Medical Center officials reported that a male had entered the emergency department with a gunshot wound to his leg.
When detectives arrived at the hospital, the victim told them he had been shot by an unknown assailant near the waterfront.
Police canvassed the area described by the victim, but it has not yet been confirmed whether a crime scene was located.
The victim is reported to be in stable condition and is expected to recover. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
