Lawrence Township Fatal Shooting Under Investigation

Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri has announced the tragic occurrence of a fatal shooting, resulting in the loss of a 36-year-old resident from Lawrence.

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning.

Prosecutor Onofri said at around 12:30 a.m. on August 11,  the Lawrence police promptly responded to an urgent 911 call regarding a shooting at a residence on Mendrey Court.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim in the living room, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his back.

The victim's identity has been confirmed as Anthony Irizarry, 36.

Urgent medical attention was provided, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

To shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragedy, the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, in collaboration with the Lawrence Township Police Department, has initiated an investigation.

Presently, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Individuals possessing any pertinent information are urged to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.
