Jersey City Police Arrest Armed Man After Road Rage Incident Follows Crash

An armed man was taken into custody late Wednesday night after a minor car crash escalated into a road rage incident involving a rifle, Jersey City police said.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Duncan Avenue and West Side Avenue after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident. 

Upon arrival, police spoke with one of the drivers involved, who told officers that the other motorist brandished a rifle following the collision before fleeing the scene.

Police were able to track down the fleeing suspect a short time later and placed him under arrest. 

A firearm was recovered during the arrest.

The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault. The incident remains under active investigation.
