Investigation Launched into Man's Death Following Police Interaction in Brick Township

In Brick Township, the death of an adult male following an interaction with law enforcement is now under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.AdThe incident, which occurred on May 9, 2024, involved Brick Township Police officers who were called to the intersection of Wisteria Drive and Vermont Drive at around 4:27 p.m.

Upon arrival, the officers found the man in a state of active distress in the street.

They handcuffed him and moved him to a nearby grassy area for safety. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were promptly at the scene to provide medical assistance.

Despite their efforts, the man was transported to Ocean University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead at 5:48 p.m.AdThe identity of the deceased has not been released, and details surrounding the cause of his apparent medical episode are still under examination.

This ongoing investigation seeks to clarify the sequence of events leading to his death and to determine the role of the police interaction in the incident.
