Police in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that erupted in the city’s North Ward this afternoon.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 3 p.m., officials at University Hospital notified police when a gunshot victim entered the emergency department suffering gunshot wounds.
Police learned that the victim was shot in the 600 block of Summer Avenue before arriving at the medical center.
Officers located at least two shell casings I'm the neighborhood, but after canvassing the scene, no other injuries were reported.
Police announced no arrests in the shooting.
