Multiple rounds of gunfire erupted in the area of 3rd Ave. and John Street shortly after midnight sending police to the scene where they began a search for two black males wearing ski-masks who unloaded rounds of gunfire, striking and injuring one person.
EMS rushed the victim to Newark's University Hospital reportedly suffering gunshot wounds to the stomach and groin. The victim's injuries were reported to be serious as of 4:30 a.m.
Police setup a crime scene in the area where they collected evidence and conducted an investigation.
