Former Elizabeth Resident, Todd Bowles, Selected as the New Jets' Head Coach

Elizabeth

The Jets owner, Woody Johnson, ended his search for a replacement for coach Rex Ryan as he announced that former Elizabeth resident and student will now lead the team.

The Jets, on Tuesday, hired Todd Bowles as their new head coach. Bowles is currently Arizona's defensive coordinator and previously the Cardinals' defense.

Bowles, 51,  was raised in Elizabeth. He graduated Elizabeth High School in 1981 and played  at Temple where he went undrafted in 1986.

Despite going undrafted, Bowles established a productive NFL career.

Between 1986-1993 Bowles played safety in the NFL. During his first five years, and last two, he played with Washington. In 1991 he played with San Francisco 49ers.

Bowles' first NFL coaching job was in 2000 as the Jets defensive backs coach.

We wish Bowles nothing but success in this new stage of  his career.
