Firefighters in Mercer County battled a three-alarm fire that tore through a multi-family apartment building early Monday morning.
According to fire officials, crews rushed to the vicinity of 663 Windsor Commons building 700 after they received reports of a fire with possible trapped occupants just before 1:45 a.m.
Crews arrived at the scene and observed massive fire tearing through a three-story building with flames extending to another structure according to reports.
Firefighters began to extinguish fast-moving flames that ripped through the structure cause a portion of it to collapse.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control with a search of the structure coming back negative for trapped and injured occupants.
The American Red Cross assisted more than a dozen displaced residents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
