Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire that tore through a large vacant building in Paterson early this morning.
The fire started shortly before dawn on N. 6th St. and was fully involved with fire when firefighters arrived according to reports.
With repair work being done in the area to water pipes, firefighters had to deal with lower than normal water pressure reports said.
Heavy flames and embers threatened nearby structures, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading.
The fire was contained in less than one hour with a large part of the building collapsing.
Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for an extended period of time.
There were no injuries immediately reported.
